The Holocaust is a lesson plan
And a deadline
And a due date
And a sliver
And an ocean
And a victim
And a taker
And a giver
And a story
Of a story
Of a cheekbone
And its ashes
And an eyelid
And its pupil
And its color
And its lashes
And it’s heavy
And it’s lighter
And it’s money
And it’s worthy
And it’s leveled
And it’s clothed
And it’s naked
And it’s dirty
And it’s over
And it’s never
Ever over
And it’s present
And it’s cross-eyed
And it’s yellow
And it’s oval
And it’s crescent
And it’s frightening
And it’s here
And it’s coming
And a joke
And it eats you
Like it eats me
And it’s cancer
And it’s smoke
And it’s payback
And it’s solace
And it’s refuge
And it’s time
And its children
And their keepers
Force their sorrows
Onto mine

  3. its seems that the Holocaust is a very theatrical space in the poem, with careful attention to the props, costumes and drama that give it reality

  4. hm, i never thought of it that way.

i typed the word holocaust on a word document, and right below i wrote down 50 or 60 words that immediately sprung to my mind. then this somehow came out.
